Our baby bird 4/20 rescue was the only intake of the day — a peaceful moment in an otherwise busy spring season.
We took in one tiny, featherless baby bird found alone on the ground. Even without a single feather, it was impossibly cute and full of quiet strength.
We kept it warm, fed, and safe through the night, then handed it off to the incredible team at Broadbent Wildlife Sanctuary the next morning.
It was a calm, easy kind of rescue — perfect for a mellow 4/20.

🪶 What To Do If You Find a Baby Bird
list
Fully feathered and hopping?
Likely a fledgling. Leave it be unless it’s in immediate danger — the parents are probably close by.
Naked or fuzzy, not moving much?
That’s a nestling. Try to return it to the nest if you can find one safely.
No nest or bird is cold/injured?
Place the bird in a warm, soft-lined container and contact a wildlife rehabber immediately.

Every spring, millions of baby birds die — and a huge portion are lost to feral and outdoor cats.

Because of this, keeping pet cats indoors and supporting TNR (trap–neuter–return) programs for feral colonies is crucial to protect our bird populations.

This tiny hatchling mattered.
Every one we help matters — even the ones we only hold for a night.
If you ever find a grounded bird and aren’t sure what to do, reach out — or ask Carl.
He may be digital, but his rescue instincts are dialed in.
