Good morning!

Building Our New Webpage

I took a few days off from creating content to focus on building our new webpage and learning what we want to accomplish with it. It’s going to be a constant work in progress, but as I get back into it, things are coming together faster. The old-school way used to make sense to me, but some of this new “easier” technology is way more complicated and honestly confusing. My brain hurts, but it’s recovering.

Old-School Computer Story Meets New Website Tools

My first web page came before the internet even existed, back when we used bulletin boards. Back then, I had a dedicated phone line, and other computers would dial into mine to download files, communicate on the message board, or ask me questions. At 12 years old, of course, I was the authority on all things computers. Lol

Computers have always been part of my life. Programming first grabbed me when I was six, mostly because I read every book that came with my first computer back in 1985. Even at that young age, these machines felt like they were going to change the world. The cassette tape-based ColecoVision computer we had before that did not impress me quite as much, but it still taught me the basics. With a few commands, I could make it scroll text or bounce a shape across the screen. That was all it took. Creating had me hooked.

Building something tangible always interested me more than playing games. Seeing the end product mattered. Later, I graduated from a vocational high school with a certification in computer programming alongside my regular diploma. Thanks to college credits from grade school and junior high, early graduation was actually an option. Skipping my last two years probably would have been smarter, but at that point in life, socializing had a much stronger marketing department than academics.

A Website Learning Curve and a Misty Chicken Detour

Looking back, I’m glad I racked up those credits, because I barely made it to graduation. Jail released me just in time to walk across that stage, but that’s a story for another day. All those life experiences shape who we become. This was supposed to be a Misty Chicken story, and somehow I haven’t even started that part yet. So this one is officially becoming a two-parter.
