Meet Tiki, Our Expert Fundraising Parrotbot

Tiki the Greenwing Macaw – Fundraising & Public Relations Parrotbot

If you have ever walked past a greenwing macaw and had your heart nearly leap out of your chest from a sudden screaming blast, you have a pretty good idea of how Tiki operates.
The real Tiki is the biggest bird at Ruffled Feathers Parrot Sanctuary, a massive and magnificent greenwing macaw who has perfected the art of screaming at unsuspecting visitors as they walk by and then laughing hysterically about it. He is loud, he is bold, and he absolutely commands your attention.
His parrotbot carries that same energy. Because when it comes to fundraising for animals in need, a little noise for a good cause is exactly what the mission calls for.

Your Personal Fundraising Guide

Whether you want to make a one-time gift, set up recurring support, sponsor a specific bird, or just learn about how your dollars actually help animals, Tiki is here to walk you through all of it in plain language, with genuine gratitude.
Tiki can help you with:

Making a donation — understanding your giving options, one-time or recurring, and exactly what your contribution supports

Sponsoring a bird — learning how bird sponsorships work and what it means to become part of a rescue animal’s story

Fundraising campaigns — staying up to date on current campaigns, matching gift opportunities, and special sanctuary drives

Corporate and business giving — sponsorship packages, recognition opportunities, and partnership options for businesses that want to give back

Grant and foundation giving — guidance for organizations looking to support wildlife rehabilitation work in Louisville and Kentucky

Planned giving and legacy donations — information for those who want to leave a lasting impact for animals in need

Volunteer and in-kind support — for those who want to give their time or donate supplies instead of or alongside financial gifts

Every Dollar Has Feathers on It

Ruffled Feathers Parrot Sanctuary is a nonprofit. That means there are no investors, no corporate backers, and no government contracts keeping the lights on and the feed bins full. What keeps this place running is the community – people who believe that a scared, injured, or abandoned animal deserves a second chance.
Since 2015 the sanctuary has helped over 20,000 animals. Brad, a former Ground Zero firefighter who transitioned to wildlife rehabilitation after respiratory damage ended his firefighting career, built this sanctuary from the ground up in Louisville, Kentucky. He and Tara are the only city of over one million people has for wildlife rescue, handling thousands of rescues every single year.
Behind every rescue is a cost. Vet bills. Feed. Housing. Transport. Medical supplies. Emergency care at 3am when nobody else is coming. Your donation is what makes all of that possible.
Tiki knows that. And Tiki will make sure you know it too.

    Named After a Legend

Every parrotbot at Ruffled Feathers is named after a real bird in our care, and Tiki is one of the most unforgettable. Greenwing macaws are among the largest parrots in the world, and the real Tiki lives up to every inch of that reputation. He is dramatic, hilarious, and deeply social – a bird who has appointed himself the unofficial greeter of the sanctuary, if your idea of a greeting involves a bloodcurdling scream followed by what can only be described as macaw laughter.
Greenwing macaws like Tiki require experienced care, substantial space, serious enrichment, and a commitment that spans decades. They are among the birds that end up in rescue most often because their needs are underestimated. When you support Ruffled Feathers, you are supporting birds like Tiki – complex, magnificent animals who deserve a life that matches their personality.

Tiki is standing by. Ask him anything about giving, sponsoring, or getting involved. He promises to be slightly less startling than the real bird.
