The Bunny Boom, Leashed Dogs, and a Lesson from God’s Garden 04/09/2025

? The Bunny Boom, Leashed Dogs, and a Lesson from Gods Garden
Or: How We Survived a 9-Bunny Drop-Off Without Losing Our Salvation or Sanity

?? It started like any other spring daybirds chirping, sun shining, caffeine coursing through my veins like the good Lord intended. Then the messages started coming in.
?? I found a baby bunny!
?? Theres a nest in my yard!
?? My dog brought me a…gift???
Before I could finish my coffee, nine baby bunnies had hopped their way into our care.
Yes. Nine. Like the fruit of the Spirit. Except this was more like patience, panic, and prayer.

? But heres the truth most folks dont know:
Baby bunnies look helpless. Tiny. Like natures marshmallows.
But theyre actually prey animals born with a PhD in survival.
? At just 3 weeks old, theyre fully independent.
? Mama only visits twice a day.
? If their eyes are open and ears are up? Theyre ready to hop, not be rescued.
All nine of ours? Healthy. Wiggly. Ready to return to the wild faster than your toddler can open an Easter egg. ?

? So what should YOU do if you find a nest?
? 1. Leash the dog. Yes, even your sweet, derpy, gentle Golden Retriever. Dogs = predators to bunnies. Leash walks only until the babies move out.
? 2. Leave them alone. If the nest is undisturbed and the babies are uninjured, Mama is probably still caring for themyou just wont see her. Shes on stealth mode.
? 3. Only intervene if:
The nest is destroyed
A baby is injured
The bunnies are cold and unresponsive
Theres definite evidence Mama isnt returning (use the string test!)

? Now lets talk Easter.
We know. We KNOW. Bunnies are ridiculously cute. Fluffy. Innocent. Practically begging for a pastel bow and an Instagram filter.
But a real bunny is not a holiday gift.
? They dont like being held.
? They dont stay small.
? And no, they dont magically litter train like a cat with manners.
What they do need:
? Room to run
? A hay-based diet
? Enrichment & vet care
? Years of commitment (10+, not just till the jellybeans are gone)
So please, choose chocolate bunnies, not real ones, unless youre prepared for a long-term, lagomorph love story.

?? And now, the sacred part:
Easter is more than eggs and sugar crashes.
Its about resurrection. Redemption. Renewal.
The same God who rolled away the stone is the One who gave these bunnies their speed, their instincts, and their stubborn little hearts.
He calls us not just to admire creationbut to protect it.
? That means choosing compassion over consumerism.
? Respecting wild things instead of taming them.
? And yes, even leashing the dog so one tiny bunny can grow up and hop into the world as God intended.
Lets celebrate new life this Easterfluffy, faithful, and full of grace. ?
